LEI code allow sa unique identification of legal entities participating in the global financial market.
All issuers of financial instruments listed on the regulated market or listed in MTP trading, investment firms and all legal entities that transact financial instruments on regulated markets and multilateral trading platforms in the European Union are identified using a unique LEI code.
Zagreb Stock Exchange LEI service was fully accredited as a Local Operating Unit authorized to issue Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) by the the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) within 12 jurisdictions: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia. In April 2022 ZSE has become accredited for fund Legal Entities (LEs) in two (2) jurisdictions Bulgaria and Croatia.
The accreditation of Zagreb Stock Exchange LEI service as official LEI allocation agency (LOU, Local Operating Unit) by the GLEIF replaces the recognition of by the LEI ROC (Regulatory Oversight Committee) of April 2015.
The initiative to create the Global LEI System (GLEIS) was taken by the G20 with the purpose to improve transparency and risk assessment in the financial markets. In addition to create a framework for identifying entities across the globe, standardized legal entity identifier codes will enable regulators to monitor and control counterparty exposure in a more efficient manner.
Zagreb Stock Exchange was the first organization in Croatia as well as in the region to provide this service of great importance for global financial stability and thereby contribute to the safety and efficiency of financial activities that take place at local and global levels.
